Days after China's communist regime carried out military drills with live fire in the Tasman Sea, an action that aggravated the already existing tensions in the region, Taiwan reacted by mobilizing its military against possible attacks that Beijing may execute.

The Taiwanese government reported that it deployed several units of its Navy and Air Force hours after identifying 12 aircraft and 15 ships, in addition to two spy balloons belonging to the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

"Eleven PLA aircraft, 14 PLAN vessels and 2 official ships were detected operating around Taiwan," Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense said in a statement posted on social media.

In addition, the Taiwanese Ministry of National Defense called the military test conducted by China a few days ago a "flagrant provocation to regional security and stability."

"This exercise not only poses a serious risk to the safety of international maritime and air navigation, but also a flagrant provocation to regional security and stability," the Taiwanese department said.

Tensions in the region have been running high for years. In recent days, China's communist regime further escalated the dispute, which for the moment has not escalated into war, with a live-fire display in the Tasman Sea, which led to the diversion of the flight paths of several commercial aircraft with civilians on board and protests from the governments of Australia and New Zealand. These drills were spotted by a Coast Guard vessel.

In addition, on Tuesday, Taiwanese authorities arrested the Chinese crew of a Togolese vessel which they accused of intentionally breaking a fiber-optic submarine cable owned by Taipei.
