Israel: Terrorist attack leaves two dead
Two Israeli soldiers were killed by gunshots fired by a Palestinian terrorist at a checkpoint in the West Bank. The military described the incident as "very serious."

A Palestinian terrorist shot two Israeli reservist soldiers dead who were at a checkpoint in the northern West Bank. Eight other servicemen were wounded in the attack, two of them seriously, Israeli media reported.
The wounded soldiers were transferred for medical treatment at various hospitals.
As reported by Israeli newspaper Ynet, the soldiers were fired upon as they were about to begin conducting inspections at the checkpoint at dawn.

Gunfire then broke out between the terrorist and other soldiers at the site, which resulted in reinforcements arriving in the area. The attacker attempted to flee but was eventually eliminated by Israeli forces.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) described the incident as "very serious" and said they will draw lessons from what happened.
It should be noted that the IDF launched Operation Iron Wall in the northern West Bank on Jan. 21 due to intensified terrorist activity in the area.
