Dominican José Ramírez homers in Cleveland’s fifth straight win

The Cleveland Rangers defeated the Kansas City Royals 2x0 on Tuesday at Progressive Field (Cleveland), in a game in which Dominican Jose Ramirez connected for his 28th home run of the season in the Major Leagues.
Cleveland added its fifth consecutive win and maintains pressure in the fight for the last wild-card playoff berth in the American League.
In addition, Tuesday's win marks a game-and-a-half difference over the Royals, who are their closest pursuers in wild-card contention.
Ramirez, 32, had a three-hit day and came within 20 RBIs of 1,000 in his major league career since he debuted in 2013.
Pitcher Joey Cantillo, meanwhile, had a stellar day for the Guardians as he pitched eight complete innings in which he allowed only four hits, without runs.
In another result, the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the New York Mets 9x3 with Kyle Schwarber homering.
Schwarber, 32, reached 50 homers on the season and became the second Phillies player to reach that number. The other was Ryan Howard in 2006.
Dominican Juan Soto drove in one of the Mets' three runs and reached 94 on the current campaign.
The Chicago Cubs, meanwhile, bounced back from three straight losses with a 6x1 win over the Atlanta Braves.
Cade Horton (10-4) pitched 6.1 innings in which he allowed four hits and one run.
Chicago remains atop the NL wild-card standings with 82 wins and 63 losses.
Meanwhile, Dominican Samuel Basallo was the standout player for the Baltimore Orioles in their 3–2 extra-innings victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Basallo, 21, delivered his first walk-off hit in the 11th inning, defeating a Pirates team that had tied the game in the ninth.
The Detroit Tigers showed further signs of their dominance in a convincing 12x2 victory over the New York Yankees.
With the game tied 2x2, the Tigers scored nine runs in the top of the seventh inning to make the difference.
Aaron Judge connected for his 44th homer of the season for the Yankees, with a blast to center field in the bottom of the first inning.
Meanwhile, Tyler Stephenson became, with a two-run homer, the star of the Cincinnati Reds' 4x2 victory over the San Diego Padres.
Venezuelan Robert Suarez (4-6), who entered to preserve the tie, allowed the Reds' decisive two runs and suffers his sixth loss of the campaign.
Finally, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Colorado Rockies 7x2with a home run by Dominican Teoscar Hernandez.
Hernandez, 32,connected for three hits in a game for the first time since August 5.
