Panama wins and joins Mexico, Costa Rica and USA in Gold Cup quarterfinals

Panama celebrates the goal
Panama beat Guatemala 1-0 on Friday in the second day of Group C of the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2025 in Austin, Texas and advanced to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Tomás Rodríguez scored the only goal of the game, which was played at Q2 Stadium, allowing Panama to join Mexico, Costa Rica and the United States, the teams that qualified early for the next stage.
Meanwhile, Jamaica defeated Guadeloupe 2-1 in the other game of the C key, played in San Jose, California.
Guadeloupe's goal was scored by Thierry Ambrose in the 32nd minute. Jamaica’s two goals were scored by Leon Bailey (41st) and Jon Russell (45+4).
The third and final day of this phase will be played on Tuesday when Panama will play against Jamaica and Guatemala against Guadeloupe.
This Saturday, Honduras will face El Salvador, while Curacao will go head to head with Canada in the second day of Group B at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas.
On Sunday, in Paradise, Nevada, in the third day of Group A, Mexico and Costa Rica will face each other.
The other match in Zone A will be played by the Dominican Republic, which was previously eliminated, and Suriman in Arlington, Texas.
The United States will host Haiti on Sunday, also in Arlington, in the final round of Group D. Group D.
In the same bracket, Saudi Arabia and Trinidad and Tobago will play in Paradise, Nevada.
