Real Madrid beat Real Sociedad 1-0 in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals at Anoeta on Wednesday, thanks to a goal from Brazilian Endrick (19) taking the lead in the tie, which will be decided in the second leg on April 1 at the Bernabeu.

The Donostiarras kicked off the match with a stronger start, however, the Madridistas soon matched their opponents energy and levelled out the number of chances on goal.

The Whites ended up striking first. A masterful pass from England's Jude Bellingham out of his own half to Endrick, who controlled the ball on the run and finished the one-on-one against goalkeeper Álex Remiro with a shot using the outside of his boot, seeing the Brazilian become his team's top scorer in the competition with four goals.

The Basque side tried to recover quickly. In the 22nd minute, Brais Méndez created a shot that was punched away by Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, and in the 27th minute, Mikel Oyarzabal came close to equalizing after feinting to shake off his marker, however, his powerful shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.

A few minutes later, Remiro prevented Brazilian Vinicius from widening the gap on the scoreboard. The white attacker stood in front of the goal, but the Txuri-urdin goalkeeper repealed the ball with a low hand.

A few minutes later, Remiro prevented Brazilian Vinicius from extending the lead on the scoreboard. The whites attacker found himself in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, however, the txuri-urdin keeper parried the ball with a low-handed save.

For most of the first half, the Basque fans' whistles against Raúl Asencio were heard whenever the defender touched the ball. But after receiving a yellow card for bringing down Ander Barrenetxea as the winger was heading into the box in stoppage time, the crowd chanted against Asencio.

After the restart, the game continued with a high tempo and chances for both sides. First, Lunin denied Oyarzabal with a header and then Japan's Kubo. Seconds later, Endrick responded after sending the ball into the crossbar after having slipped between the center-backs.

The two teams continued to generate clear goal-scoring opportunities but were continually shutout by both goalkeepers, who were outstanding on the night.
