End of 18 years with Packers: Aaron Rodgers signs with Jets
The legendary quarterback is leaving Lambeau Field to take part in an ambitious project in the Big Apple. He may don jersey number eight.
Aaron Rodgers is leaving the Green Bay Packers. After eighteen seasons, the legendary quarterback is ending his career with the Wisconsin team and joining the New York Jets in exchange for several first-round picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, which will be held April 27-29.
After several months of speculation and transfer requests, Rodgers ends his career at Lambeau Field, where he began playing professionally in 2005. With the Packers, he was Super Bowl XLV champion (2010). He was also named the league's Most Valuable Player (MVP) four times (2011, 2014, 2020 and 2021).
At 39 years of age, Rodgers is embarking on a new sports project and will lead the New York Jets as they look to win the second Super Bowl in their history (the only one was in 1969).
What is not yet known is which bib Rodgers will wear for the Jets. During his professional career, the quarterback has worn the #12, but this number was retired in his new team. There is speculation that he will wear #8 in the Big Apple, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
