Cristiano Ronaldo signs the contract of the century with Al Nasr: 200 million euros per season!
The Portuguese star will become the highest-paid footballer in the world, ahead of Messi and Mbappé.
Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester United just two days before the start of the World Cup in Qatar with his national team, Portugal. However, he will not remain a free player for long, as the famous striker has apparently signed a spectacular contract with the Saudi Arabian team Al Nasr.
According to Spanish newspaper Marca, the agreement between the Saudi Arabian team and the 37-year-old Portuguese player will last for two and a half seasons, starting on January 1, 2023.
The world's highest paid footballer
CR7's new contract will be around €200 million per season, making him the highest paid footballer in the world, even above Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé.
It should be noted that the aforementioned amount does not include other economic income that may be generated for advertising purposes.
The controversial ending with Manchester United
The decision to end the agreement between Cristiano Ronaldo and the English club came after the player had several problems with head coach Erik Ten Hag. However, the decision came just after the striker made some controversial statements in an interview, highlighting how "betrayed" he felt by the club and the "lack of respect" he received from Ten Hag.
Likewise, CR7 explained that he did not feel he had evolved with Manchester since Alex Ferguson retired as manager in 2013, these were strong statements that did not go unnoticed.
According to Rio Ferdinand, a former United player, Cristiano may have given the interview with the intention of making his dissatisfaction clear and thus leaving the club.
Although these statements were not confirmed by Cristiano, he stated that he was ready for a new stage in soccer.
"I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never change. However, I feel it is the right time to look for a new challenge," he said when the end of his deal with the English club was announced.
