Phil Robertson, the former star of Duck Dynasty passed away at age 79. The family shared the news on Sunday afternoon through several social media posts. Robertson had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's last December.

Phil Robertson rose to fame thanks to the series Duck Dynasty, which aired from 2012 to 2017 on A&E. The show followed his family and their hunting business. Alongside Phil, it featured his wife Kay, his sons, their wives, an uncle, and some of the grandchildren.

Controversies and Trump

Robertson was involved in several controversies and was even suspended from the show for a time due to comments he made about homosexuality. However, fan support quickly led to his return, and he continued to share his views and his interpretation of the Christian faith on the series.

In 2016, he backed Ted Cruz’s bid to become the Republican presidential nominee, though Donald Trump ultimately won the nomination. Then, in 2019, Robertson took part in events alongside Trump, even sharing the stage with him.
