The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Monday that the U.S. Attorney's Office filed charges against 63 individuals, including four undocumented immigrants, for alleged election-related crimes across the United States, including illegal voting, fraudulent voter registration, and other violations. "Today's announcement marks the largest increase in arrests for election fraud since President Trump returned to office. These foreign nationals allegedly took advantage of the American people's trust and disregarded the laws governing our nation's elections," said Attorney General Todd Blanche.

According to authorities, the foreign nationals were charged with casting votes in federal elections—individuals who allegedly falsified their U.S. citizenship to register to vote—and the fraudulent submission of voter registration applications in states where they were ineligible to do so. The DOJ also reported that, over the past nine weeks, a total of 195 people in 25 states have faced charges related to illegal voting and fraudulent voter registration.

All of this comes just one day before the midterm elections, in which Americans will decide the composition of the House of Representatives and part of the Senate. The electoral landscape is marked by uncertainty, with polls predicting very close races in several districts and key states, while other polls and projection models point to a considerable advantage for the Democrats.

While some analysts and pollsters assert that the Democrats have a significant chance of regaining the House of Representatives, the race for the Senate presents a more competitive landscape, and several individual races continue to be considered dead heats. Although projections indicate a significant opportunity for the opposition to regain control of Congress, the final results will depend on an election in which numerous races still lack a clear outcome.
