Perpetrator of 2019 El Paso Walmart massacre pleads guilty to murder
Patrick Crusius, who was 21 at the time of the events, had already been sentenced in 2023 by a federal judge to 90 consecutive life sentences for the massacre. The plea agreement allows him to avoid the death penalty.

The gunman who killed 23 people at an El Paso, Texas, supermarket in 2019 pleaded guilty Monday in state court and was sentenced to life in prison.
Patrick Crusius, who was 21 at the time of the events, had already been sentenced in 2023 by a federal judge to 90 consecutive life sentences for the massacre.
This new plea dealallowed him to avoid the death penalty. The conviction does not provide for parole.
On August 3, 2019 Crusius traveled more than 1,000 kilometers from the town of Allen to one of the Walmart chain stores in El Paso, armed with an AK-47-type assault rifle and ammunition.
After exiting his car, he opened fire in the parking area. He killed a total of 23 people, eight of whom were Mexican nationals, and wounded 22 others.
The shooter had posted a document on the Internet claiming that the attack was in response to a Hispanic "invasion."
