Tennessee: Eight suspected illegal immigrants arrested for looting buildings affected by Hurricane Helene
Some of the properties were still inhabited. Five of the offenders were charged with aggravated burglary and the other three with burglary.
While Hurricane Helene devastated everything in its pass, leaving hundreds of fatalities and economic losses in the millions, some tried to take advantage of the misfortune with crime and take what does not belong to them.
Recently, eight people were arrested in Tennessee, allegedly illegal immigrants, for stealing from several buildings located in an area of the eastern part of the state that was hit hard by the hurricane, according to a report from The National Pulse.
Five of these criminals: Albin Nahun Vega Rapalo, David Bairon Rapalo, Kevin Noe Martinez Lopez, Marvin Hernandez Martinez and Dayln Gabriel Guillen, have been charged with aggravated robbery, because they robbed several homes that were still inhabited.
The other three: Jesús Leodán García Peneda, Josué Berardo Ortis Váldez and Ersy Leonel Ortis Váldez- have been charged with robbery and breaking and entering. In their cases, they broke into vacated buildings.
Tennessee was not one of the states hit hardest by Hurricane Helene. However, certain locations in the east of the state bordering North Carolina were badly affected by the strong winds, storms and excessive flooding.
