Actor Fernando Almada dies at 94

Almada and his brother Mario were two of the great 'Mexican western' actors whose careers spanned over three decades.

The Mexican actor Fernando Almada died this Monday at the age of 94. The cause of his death is unknown. The National Association of Actors of Mexico (ANDA) announced the death of the well-known actor in a statement on X (formerly Twitter):

Almada and his brother Mario were iconic in the "Mexican western," genre, which became popular in Mexico between 1970 and 1990. El Heraldo de México reported that between the two of them, they appeared in more than 100 films. Fernando got involved in film several years before his brother. His first appearance on the big screen was in 1959 with the feature film "Milagros de San Martín de Porres." He also worked as a film producer and director throughout his career.

Six years later, his brother Mario made his debut on the big screen. In 1965 they both starred in the film "Los Jinetes de la Bruja." It was the beginning of a long career. They often worked together. Mario died in 2016 at the age of 94. Both retired in the 2000s. The last film Fernando Almada appeared in was "El Rey de la Mota," which was filmed in 2001.
