A neighborhood near Fort Worth, Texas, was the scene of a shooting that killed three people and injured eight. The attack occurred shortly after a 4th of July celebration ended.

According to police reports, several men randomly fired shots into a crowd gathered just after the annual festival in the historic Como neighborhood of West Fort Worth.

Instead of the continuation of a celebration, the evening turned into a tragedy. At first, the sounds of gunshots were mistaken for fireworks but then were accompanied by the screams of people running desperately as they tried to get to safety.

When the authorities arrived, there were already bodies lying in a parking lot. Bullets hit 11 people; one was pronounced dead at the scene; later, two other people also died, and the other eight were treated in hospitals.

According to the police, there was a minor among the victims, but it is not yet public knowledge if the child was one of those killed or wounded.

"I am devastated by the news of a mass shooting in Fort Worth last night. My heart breaks for the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Como community that works to build positivity and celebration in their community and our city," Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker said via his Twitter account.

It should be noted that according to authorities, the investigation is still ongoing, and at least as of Tuesday afternoon, no arrests were reported in connection with this case.
