Kiss singer and guitarist Paul Stanley backtracked Thursday after speaking out against gender reassignment for children.

"While my thoughts were clear, my words clearly were not," Stanley tweeted in his apology. He also wrote that he supports "those struggling with their sexual identity while enduring constant hostility and those whose path leads them to reassignment surgery."

Stanley's initial tweet, now recanted, came on Sunday, April 30. The musician then asserted that "There is a big difference between teaching acceptance and normalizing and even encouraging participation in a lifestyle that confuses young children into questioning their sexual identification as though some sort of game." In addition, he criticized the parents who normalize such practices.
