More meat and less climate alarmism: production and consumption soar
Meat production is now five times higher than in the 1960s.
Data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) state that world meat production has increased fivefold since the 1960s. This data counters the opinion of global elites who, as Zero Hedge points out, seek to change "mass thinking" even about food.
"You'll eat a lot less meat... A treat now and then.... For the environment and your health" are phrases published in articles and videos by the World Economic Forum, which oppose the increase in meat consumption and production seen in current figures.
More world meat production
Even the pandemic did not cause a decrease in the volume of world meat production. However, it did cause many interruptions in the production and supply chains, the upward trend in the volume of production continued and, consequently, consumption increased.
For the remainder of 2022, FAO forecasts that the amount of meat produced will be around 361 million tons, representing a growth of 1.4% in production and consumption compared to 2021. The expansion is driven mainly by strong meat production growth expected in China and notable increases in Brazil, Australia and Vietnam, which will offset expected declines in the European Union, the United States, Canada, Iran and Argentina.
Asia is the largest meat producing market, with a focus on pork and poultry. In China, global meat production is forecast to increase to 96 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of 4.4%. This growth will be driven mainly by the expected 8% increase in pork production.
Brazil will be another major producer thanks to its disease-free status in the main meat production systems. Rising costs due to the global economic crisis are what could limit the country.
"You'll eat a lot less meat...a treat now and then."
Zero Hedge, commented in their article "The big reboot action item: there's no meat for you" how “global elites, the World Economic Forum (WEF), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and even places as disparate as the Vatican and Hollywood" want to tell us that we should eat for "our health and care for the environment.”
The site criticized the hypocrisy of the powerful since the meals consumed by global elites will not prohibit or reduce the consumption of these foods which are considered bad for the planet. Meat is included in them:
"According to WWF, we (you) need to reduce [la huella de carbono de los alimentos] below 0.5 kg CO2e [por comida] to reach the targets defined in the Paris Agreement," reads a statement on each page of the online website. menu.'
However, the strong growth of meat production demonstrates the failed attempt of global elites to change "the thoughts of the masses.”
