Donald Trump will personally finance the installation of two giant flags at the White House. The president announced this after inspecting the site with gardeners for the mast placement. The flags will be about 30 meters high, making them visible from multiple points around the presidential residence.
In Trump's eyes, the White House facade lacks a little more patriotism. There is currently no flag on the property, except for the one flying at the top of the building.
"We're going to put a beautiful American flag that's almost 100 feet tall on this side and one on the other side, two flags, top of the line," the president said, adding that these masts have been missing for 200 years.
"It's been 200 years that flagpoles have been needed. It's something I've often said, you know, you don't have a proper flagpole. So we're going to put one right where you've seen us, and we're going to put another one on the other side, on top of the mounds. It's going to be two beautiful flagpoles," he added.
Trump emphasized that he will pay for the flags and that he expects them to be deployed by next week.
Trump's other proposed decorations
The Biden administration proposed constructing a $100 million ballroom.
His predecessors also made certain stylistic changes, such as Jackie Kennedy’s historic restoration, the vegetable garden installed by the Obama family, or the repair of the tennis courts during the first Trump administration.
