An election expert on Trump: his historic approval rating comes from voters who live 'paycheck to paycheck'
This was assured by Frank Luntz in an interview with NewsNation. At the same time, he said that these voters are "very happy" that Washington is "accountable."

Frank Luntz, a well-known pollster and political consultant, revealed details about Donald Trump's historic approval rating. According to what he found, this support is mostly bolstered by working-class voters, specifically those who live paycheck to paycheck. He stated this in an interview with NewsNation, where he also revealed this group's perception of Elon Musk's work and his particular way of communicating it.
Luntz was interviewed by Leland Vittert, who asked him specifically about what characterizes voters who live paycheck to paycheck.
"They don’t want the president to take his eye off the ball when it comes to how much their day-to-day life costs them. (...) When you say, ‘paycheck to paycheck,’ it means that their house is barely paid for. It means they have nothing left over at the end of the week or end of the month. And they want to make sure that this administration is as focused now as they were during the election campaign," the consultant replied.
Subsequently, Vittert asked him how this group feels after the presidential election and already with Trump back in the White House. "They are very happy," he replied, adding that they prioritize lower taxes and lower prices on consumer goods.

On Musk's work at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Luntz revealed that these voters are very pleased, though not so much with how that work is communicated.
"They're very happy that people who shouldn't be are being asked to leave. That they're very happy that Washington is being held accountable and responsible for Washington's wastefulness. They want the government to be more efficient, more effective and more accountable. The only criticism they have is that they don't want the president to lose sight of how much their daily lives are costing them," Luntz said in the aforementioned interview.
"My message to Elon Musk is, they believe in the principles that he has articulated. They believe in the effort that he’s doing, but they don’t believe in the way that he’s communicating it, and he’s creating enemies that don’t necessarily have to exist," he added.
