Ramaswamy plans to announce his candidacy for Ohio governor
Two sources close to the former presidential candidate say he will do so after meeting some of his goals at the Department of Government Efficiency.

Vivek Ramaswamy has plans for the future. The future co-director of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is reportedly weighing running to be the next governor of Ohio, succeeding Mike DeWine.
According to a report by The Washington Post, two anonymous sources close to the former presidential candidate indicated that Ramaswamy has reportedly set his sights on the top office in the state where he was born and raised.
But before announcing he is running, he wants to focus on fulfilling some of his goals within the DOGE, a department he will co-lead with Elon Musk and which will close on July 4, 2026, as Donald Trump noted.
"Vivek's basic plan remains the same: make gains at DOGE and then announce his candidacy for governor shortly," said one of the sources, while the other assured that the official statement "is drafted and ready."
In recent times Ramaswamy was linked to the Senate, filling the vacancy left by J.D. Vance, who will be the next vice president of the United States. He was even endorsed by Trump for his seat in the Senate.
But Ramaswamy's plans don't go through the Senate. With a practically non-existent track record in politics, having only been a candidate in the Republican Party primary and, as of Jan. 20, will take the reins of the DOGE, he now seems ready to make a quantum leap and serve as the top leader of his home state.
