CIA collaborated with Biden's campaign team to "mislead" voters about Hunter's laptop
A new report reveals that pressure was put on officials to sign a letter discrediting information about Biden's son.
The investigation that is being led by several House committees into Hunter Biden's laptop scandal has revealed that the CIA collaborated with then-candidate Joe Biden's campaign team to "mislead voters" by labeling the information released at the time as "Russian disinformation." The chairman of the Commission on Oversight and Accountability, James Comer, claimed that senior agency officials collaborated with Antony Blinken to obtain the 51 signatures of current and former intelligence officers for a letter that discredited articles published in various media outlets.
Comer announced that the House Judiciary Committee, its subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government and the House Intelligence Committee will release shattering information on the Biden family later this week. The three committees will present at a press conference the report "Hunter Biden's Statement: How Senior Intelligence Community and Biden Campaign Officials Worked to Mislead American Voters," which includes the testimonies of the witnesses quoted in the hearings and will reveal new information.
Senior CIA officials acknowledge their involvement
According to Fox News, which had access to a draft of the report, members of the three committees agree that former intelligence officials "insert themselves into the thick of the presidential campaign." During the hearings, former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell acknowledged that he invited several former colleagues and acquaintances in the intelligence community to sign the letter after receiving a call from Blinken, who at the time was an advisor to the Biden campaign, although he denied that he coordinated the signature collection.
However, several e-mails included in the report indicate that the former CIA official forwarded the original letter to the agency's Pre-Publication Classification Review Board (PCRB) to get approval to publish it. The PRCB is the body that analyzed the documents that came to light to ensure that they did not include classified documentation.
He wanted to "help Vice President Biden"
In the e-mail, Morell urged the PCRB to approve the document for publication by assuring "100% that it does not contain classified information. In fact, it specifically says that we don't know what the IC or the FBI knows about this." The former deputy director admitted that he drafted the letter, "Attached is a statement that Marc and I drafted that many former senior and working-level officials from across the IC will sign and then be made public."
In his appearances, Morell acknowledged that the letter had other intentions: "One intent was to share our concern with the American people that the Russians were playing on this issue, and two, it was to help Vice President Biden." When questioned about the second intention, the former official was blunt: "Because I wanted him [Biden] to win the election."
"The [Biden] campaign will be thrilled"
The CIA agents' collaboration, in this case, was also indicated by other emails and the statement of former CIA analyst Daniel Cariens. In some of the e-mails attached to the report, Morell wrote to former colleagues asking for their signatures and stressed that "the more former intelligence officers, the better. [Biden's] campaign will be thrilled." Another one of the emails, in this case, sent by Blinken to Morell, included the signature of Andrew Bates, director of Rapid Response for the Democratic campaign.
Cariens' statement shed more light on the issue. The former agent, who was active at the time, was finalizing the publication of his memoirs and had sent them to the PCRB for confirmation that no classified material was being published when the board informed him of the letter, read it to him, and asked him if he wanted to sign it:
"Bank records don't lie"
In addition to the CIA's involvement in the presidential campaign and its collaboration with the campaign staff of one of the candidates, Comer announced that evidence will be provided in a press conference that will mark a before and after for President Biden. Comer went so far as to ask that Hunter not be detained until they have presented their new evidence. According to the conservative legislator, they will prove that "for years, the Biden family peddled influence and access to the highest levels of the U.S. government," stressing that "bank records don't lie."
