Donald Trump returns to Washington a year and a half after his departure from the White House. The former president has hinted at his intention to run again for a third time. "I applied the first time and won. Then I ran a second time and did much better. We got millions and millions more votes (...) We may have to do it again," Trump has advanced during his participation in the America First Policy Institute(AFPI) summit.

In his speech, the former president has described several of the problems that, in his opinion, the country is going through. One of them is insecurity. "We need an all-out effort to defeat crime in America, and be tough and nasty if we have to be," Trump said. " Democrat-run cities are records." "Our country is suffering one historic humiliation after another on the world stage. And then at home, our most basic rights and freedoms are under total siege. The American dream is being shattered and our country has been brought to its knees," Donald Trump sentenced.

"Our country is suffering one historic humiliation after another on the world stage. And then at home, our most basic rights and freedoms are totally under siege. The American dream is being shattered and our country has been brought to its knees."

Trump leaves the door open for his return to the White House and his supporters celebrate. Speaking to CNN, Marc Lotter, AFPI's chief communications officer, notes that they invited Trump to speak because "he is still the leader of the America First movement."

"It is the biggest name. He is the visionary behind many of the policies that got him into the White House," Lotter points out. "And when you look at what's going on in America right now, a lot of people are clamoring for that kind of political leadership back. They want cheap gasoline, rising wages, rising stock markets and not what we have now," he stresses.

Pence also returns to Washington and calls for looking to the future

Donald Trump's return to the capital comes at the same time that his former vice president participated in another event organized by the Young America Foundation. Mike Pence delivered a speech in which he praised his accomplishments with former President Donald Trump, while acknowledging that he has a different approach than his former boss.

Pence, another of the names in the presidential race, focused his speech on the achievements of the previous administration, such as laying the judicial groundwork for annul Roe vs. Wade. The former vice-president, without expressly pointing out the events of the 2020 elections or the accusations of electoral fraud, asked to look to the future. "I don't know if the president and I differ on the issues, but we may differ on the approach," Pence said. "I really believe that the election is about the future, and that it's absolutely essential - at a time when so many Americans are hurting, so many families are struggling - that we don't give in to the temptation to look backwards."

"I believe the time has come for us to offer a bold and positive agenda to take back America. And I will continue to carry that message throughout the nation," said the former president in what appears to be a clear letter of introduction for a future presidential candidacy.
