Qatar prevented Mexico from winning the CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage with a 1-0 victory at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara (California), a victory that secured the Asian team's place in the next round of the tournament.

Left back Hazem Shehata scored the only goal of the game in the 27th minute of the first half. The Qatar National Team showed 100% effectiveness in front of goal, as they took advantage of their only shot on goal to secure the victory.

For their part, El Tri had a number of opportunities throughout the game. However, they failed to penetrate Meshaaal Barsham's goal. Mexico went into the match with a place in the quarterfinals already secured after defeating Haiti on the second matchday.
