Kanye West and Kim Kardashian reached a divorce settlement Tuesday, CNN reported, citing sources close to the couple.

A draft that the TV network obtained exclusively claims that West, who last year legally changed his name to Ye, will have to pay $200,000 a month to Kim Kardashian for the support of their four children: North, Santo, Chicago and Psalm. The document also states that both will maintain joint custody of the children, whose ages range from 3 to 9 years old.

A media divorce

The marriage lasted only seven years. The couple married in Italy in 2014 and Kim filed divorce papers in 2021. In them, the famous businesswoman argued that "irreconcilable differences" were the main reason why they wanted to separate. A year later, in March 2022, Kim Kardashian managed to change her marital status to "legally single" after getting approval from a Los Angeles judge.

That same month, Vogue magazine published an interview that Kim Kardashian had given to them a few weeks earlier. In it, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star explained some of the reasons why she wanted to divorce West:

"For so long, I did what made other people happy. And I think in the last two years I decided, I’m going to make myself happy. And that feels really good. And even if that created changes and caused my divorce, I think it’s important to be honest with yourself about what really makes you happy. I’ve chosen myself. I think it’s okay to choose you.”

The marital crisis, as national tabloids such as People, Page Six and Entertainment Tonight were reporting in 2021, worsened when the rapper decided, for the first time, to run for president in 2020.

However, the influencer defended her ex-husband in a television interview revealing that he suffered from bipolar disorder, which explained the rapper's volatile behavior.

West also reflected on his behavior and, in September of this year during an interview with Good Morning America, he gave a public apology to the media star: "She is the mother of my children and I apologize for any stress I have caused her, even in my frustration because God calls me to be stronger."
