American actor RJ Mitte, known worldwide for his portrayal of Walter "Flynn" White Jr. in the hit AMC series "Breaking Bad," died at age 34 in the state of Texas.
The news was confirmed on Monday by local authorities and his representatives to the TMZ news site, noting that the cause of death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.
"It is with deep sadness that we share the tragic passing of the beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate advocate for the rights of people with disabilities, RJ Mitte," the artist's spokespeople stated in an official statement sent to the media.
A career guided by talent and overcoming adversity
Mitte, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at an early age, turned his condition into a platform to build a solid and authentic artistic career.
His performance across 56 episodes of "Breaking Bad" not only earned critical and public acclaim but also served to break down barriers in the American entertainment industry regarding the inclusion and representation of people with physical disabilities.
Alongside his professional work in productions such as "The Oak Room," "The Recall" and "The Guardians of Justice," the actor devoted years of work as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children's hospitals, advocating for the value of individual effort and personal growth.
A tragic end amid plans for the future
Mitte's passing has caused deep sorrow among his close circle, given that the actor maintained busy professional and personal schedules. Recently, Mitte had continued to actively participate in projects in the film and television industry.
During a recent interview on "The Joe Vulpis Podcast," recorded weeks ago and aired earlier this month, the actor expressed optimism about his next professional steps, revealing that he had just signed on for a new movie and was continuing to promote his charitable initiatives.
Texas law enforcement officials reported that the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
