Elon Musk is planning to open a university in Texas “dedicated to education at the highest levels”

The tycoon, owner of companies such as X and Tesla, is also contributing to the construction of elementary and secondary schools.

A Bloomberg report revealed that Elon Musk plans to fully enter the education field.

According to the outlet, a tax return for Musk's charity, The Foundation, shows that the owner of Tesla is opening a university "dedicated to education at the highest levels" in Texas.

According to Bloomberg, Musk's organization submitted a tax exemption to the Internal Revenue Service that was approved last March. In the document, the university that Musk intends to open will offer classes taught by "experienced faculty" in science, physics, engineering and mathematics. Likewise, it notes that there will be a "hands-on learning experience including simulations, case studies, fabrication/design projects, and labs."

The university will also seek accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to certify the quality of the classes.

The Bloomberg report also revealed some data about the K-12 schools that Musk will contribute to.

According to the document, they will focus on teaching STEM subjects "and other topics," seeking a small initial enrollment of 50 students, "with the goal of scaling its enrollment over time."

At the time, Musk had already ventured into the education field in 2014 when he opened a small institute, Ad Astra, where he enrolled his five children and provided the opportunity to register another small number of students.

Later, in 2020, Musk and the co-founders of Ad Astra closed the institution and opened the Astra Nova online school, which had about 50 full-time students last year.
