DHS released more than 500 convicted illegal immigrants in January

In just two months, more than 26,000 undocumented immigrants have been released to the streets.

In the first month of 2023, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released more than 500 illegal immigrants who have criminal convictions. These offenders had previously been detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Almost all of the illegals (571) who are now on the streets were arrested last year for committing criminal acts in the country. Recent ICE data revealed that they were released on a recognizance warrant.

Orders of release on recognizance are made when a judge decides to release the person without payment.

The release of 5,590 illegal aliens

In the first 30 days of the year alone, DHS oversaw the release of 5,590 illegal aliens. From December through January, more than 1,200 convicts were released throughout the middle of the country, along with more than 1,000 others who have pending criminal charges. In total, throughout these two months, DHS has released nearly 26,000 undocumented immigrants, many of them with the aforementioned criminal charges, onto the streets.

These releases of illegals from custody are part of the more than two million immigrants who crossed the southern border in 2022.

Arrests and deportations are down

BreitbartNews reported that the Biden Administration has to dismantle the enforcement of the internal immigration law through so-called "sanctuary country” measures that protect the majority of the 11 to 22 million of the nation's illegal immigrants from arrest and deportation by ICE agents.

Last year, DHS reduced deportations of illegals living in the country by more than 90% compared to 2019. The agency also revealed that immigrant arrests decreased by more than 70%.
