All eyes are on the war in Israel

Biden promised to support Israeli forces while Trump and DeSantis claimed that the Democratic administration had helped finance the terrorist attack.

Countries around the world have been reacting to the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel. This Saturday, President Joe Biden publicly offered his support for Israel, after a private conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

"The United States warns against any other party hostile to Israel seeking advantage in this situation," the Democratic president said in a statement released by the White House. "My Administration’s support for Israel’s security is rock solid and unwavering." Vice President Kamala Harris ensured that their commitment to Israeli security is"unwavering."

Trump and DeSantis target the Biden administration

Former President Donald Trump also condemned the Hamas attack, calling it a "disgrace" and defended Israel's right to defend itself.

"Sadly, American taxpayer dollars helped fund these attacks, which many reports are saying came from the Biden Administration," said the leader in the polls for the Republican primaries. "We brought so much peace to the Middle East through the Abraham Accords, only to see Biden whittle it away at a far more rapid pace than anyone thought possible."

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also took aim at Biden. DeSantis claimed that the president's policies have 'gone easy' on Iran allowing this country to enrich itself and help finance Hamas' war efforts. "Israel is now paying the price for those policies."

Other Republican Party leaders have spoken out in support of Israel:

Iran celebrates the attack

"In this operation, the element of surprise and other combined methods were used, which show the Palestinian people’s confidence in the face of the occupiers," said Iranian spokesman Nasser Kanaani in statements to the Nasser Kanaani agency reported by Reuters.

Likewise, Reuters published the testimony of Ali Bahadori-Jahromi, another government representative, who assured that the attack demonstrated that "the Zionist regime is more vulnerable than ever" and that "the initiative is in the hands of Palestinian youth."

The official website of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, posted a message on Saturday stating that "the usurper Zionist regime is coming to an end." Although Khamenei said this earlier this week, the statement was posted shortly after the attack.

Meanwhile, people in Iran celebrated the Hamas attack. Videos of the celebrations have gone viral on social media:

Other statements

This new war against Israel has not gone unnoticed in other parts of the world. The embassy of Spain in Israel, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell, President of the European Commission Ursula Von der Leyen, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of Hungary Orbán Viktor and, French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the attack on their X (formerly Twitter) accounts:

I strongly condemn the terrorist attacks currently taking place in Israel. I express my full solidarity with the victims, their families and their loved ones.

Kyiv and Moscow

Both Russia and Ukraine have spoken out about the conflict. Moscow claims to be "in contact with all parties," according to the official Tass agency.

The person in charge of these public statements was Mijaíl Bogdanov, Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, who also said:

We urge to immediately start a peace process on the basis of existing internationally recognized agreements. UN Security Council decisions have not been implemented, the work of the Middle East Quartet has been hampered, talks have not been held, and this is the result.

President Volodimir Zelensky spoke on behalf of Ukraine. The president defended Israel's right to defend itself and said he was sure that terrorism would finally be defeated.
