41 workers trapped in a tunnel were rescued in India

On November 12, 2023, a subway structure collapsed in the state of Uttarakhand.

Indian authorities reported that they rescued 41 workers trapped in a tunnel that collapsed in the Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand. The collapse occurred on November 12, 2023 in a part of the Silkyara-Barkot tunnel.

Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, posted a video on his X account (formerly Twitter) showing the rescue team's operation. The minister explained that they will investigate the events that led to the collapse of the subway structure.

"The Silkyara Tunnel Rescue Operation became a wonderful example of humanity and teamwork," Singh Dhami wrote on his X account.

In addition, he explained that he spoke with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. Singh Dhami stated that Modi congratulated him for his handling the situation. "I informed the prime minister about the arrangements made to send the workers to Chinyalisaur hospital after a preliminary investigation and to provide adequate care to the families of the workers," Singh Dhami said.

I expressed gratitude to the prime minister on behalf of all the members of the rescue team and the families of the workers for the guidance and all possible cooperation extended by him.
