The three best hospitals in the world are in the U.S.

Five U.S. hospitals are among the top 10 in Newsweek's list of World's Best Hospitals.

The U.S. led the ranking of the world's best hospitals in 2022. The number one spot is held by the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Rounding out the podium are two other national hospitals: the Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. In addition, five of the 10 best-rated worldwide hospitals are located in the country.

This list comes from Newsweek's annual ranking of the World's Best Hospitals. According to the magazine, Covid continues to be a determining factor. The two-year war against the virus has forced these centers to maintain "a constant evolution. That has meant learning to adapt quickly to new and existing challenges and improvising on the fly."

Covid is a determining factor among the best hospitals

The Newsweek study includes hospitals in three new countries: Colombia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. This time, the list includes 2,200 hospitals in 27 different countries. Of those 27, 21 have hospitals on the top 150 list. The U.S. tops the list with 33 hospitals, followed by Germany with 14, Italy and France with 10 each, and South Korea with eight. In addition, in 2022, 13 new hospitals managed to break into the top 100.

The U.S. has five hospitals in the top ten list. This figure rises to seven in the top 20 and 10 in the top 30. Fourteen are in the top 50.
