Russian President Vladimir Putin will run in the presidential elections to be held in March next year. He will seek to extend his second term in the Kremlin for six more years, until 2030, according to anonymous sources reported by Reuters.
The candidacy of Putin, 71, will be announced soon, according to one of the sources. Another assured that the Russian president is certain that he will aspire to remain in office.
Putin's first term began on Dec. 31, 1999, and ended on May 7, 2008. A day later, he was named president of the government of the Russian Federation, or prime minister, a position he held until May 7, 2012, the day on which he regained his position as president of Russia, which he has held to this day.
