Poll: Trump and Biden virtually tied in Pennsylvania, a key swing state in the election

In a hypothetical confrontation today, the former president would outperform his successor, but only by 1%.

Both Republican and Democratic voters in Pennsylvania seem to be very clear that they are looking for a rematch between Donald Trump and Joe Biden for the next presidential election. However, the situation is very close in a state considered key for the electoral process.

A survey published on Wednesday by Quinnipiac University revealed that in a confrontation between Trump and Biden, Pennsylvania voters would choose their parties' respective candidates: Trump would have 89% of the support of registered Republican voters, and Biden would have 94% of the support of Democrats. The results also showed that Trump is the favorite of independent voters as he obtained 51% to Biden's 31%.

However, if the hypothetical showdown were to occur right now, the two would be virtually tied, as 47% of registered voters said they would support Trump, while 46% said they backed the incumbent president.

In the 2020 election, Pennsylvania was one of six swing states where Biden narrowly defeated Trump. However, according to the Quinnipiac University poll, the former president would win by just over 1% if the presidential election were held today.

Republican nomination

The survey also asked Republican voters of Pennsylvania about their favorite candidate for the primaries. Once again, Trump led the results with 49% of the support, followed by Ron DeSantis with 25%, and in third place, a tie between Chris Christie and Mike Pence with 5% each. The only other two candidates who garnered more than 1% of Republican support were Nikki Haley and Tim Scott, both with 4% support.

Democratic nomination

For the Democrats, Biden had a significant 71% lead over Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who got 17%, and Marianne Williamson received 5%.
