Paul Pelosi assaulted in his San Francisco residence

The assailant, who is already in custody, entered the home of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and "violently assaulted" her husband.

, the husband of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, was "violently assaulted" in his San Francisco home. Nancy Pelosi's husband was at the couple's San Francisco residence when a person entered the home and "violently assaulted" him for reasons yet unknown. A few minutes later, the assailant was arrested and the San Francisco Police are already investigating the incident.

Paul Pelosi is currently hospitalized, although his office reports that he is stable and is expected to make a full recovery.

The incident, which took place early this morning, was announced by the couple's spokesman, Drew Hamill, in a statement:

Early this morning, an assailant broke into the Pelosi residence in San Francisco and violently assaulted Mr. Pelosi. The assailant is in custody and the motivation for the attack is under investigation. Mr. Pelosi was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving excellent medical care and is expected to make a full recovery. The Speaker was not in San Francisco at the time.
