Montana: leftist rioters storm Capitol in support of trans congressman

Seven were arrested. Zooey Zephyr, a Democratic LGBT lawmaker, was disapproved of for telling Republican representatives that they have "blood on their hands" for banning trans treatment for minors.

Montana law enforcement authorities arrested seven left-wing rioters after they stormed the state Capitol to protest last week's censorship of trans Democratic lawmaker Zooey Zephyr.

As can be seen in the images, around thirty agitators entered the Montana Capitol. For half an hour, the assailants shouted "let him speak!", in reference to Zephyr, from the visitors' box of the Montana House of Representatives. The parliamentary session had to be paralyzed and the police came to the scene to proceed with the removal of the rioters and arrests.

"Hands stained with blood."

Last week Zephyr, who is the first trans congressman in the history of the Montana Legislature, was in the spotlight for telling Republican lawmakers that they have "blood on their hands" after introducing a bill to ban sex change treatments for minors:

All I will say is that if you vote yes to this bill and yes to these amendments, I hope that the next time there is an invocation, when you bow your heads in prayer, you will see the blood on your hands.

After he uttered these words, the state House Speaker decided to turn off his microphone so that he could not participate in the session again. "I want to be clear: no silencing tactic will deter me from standing up for the rights of the transgender community," Zephyr said. "I will not apologize for speaking clearly and precisely about the harm caused by these bills". A week later, dozens of people came to the Capitol to show their support.

The bill banning sex change treatments and surgeries on minors passed both the Montana House and Senate. Both have a comfortable Republican majority. After its approval, it was sent to the governor, Greg Gianforte, to enact the law.
