Mike Johnson visited the southern border, said the immigration crisis is a “disaster of the president's own design”

The speaker of the House of Representatives accused Joe Biden of being responsible for the serious threat facing national security.

This Wednesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson traveled to the southern border and reiterated the importance of implementing strong measures to address what he described as a “disaster of the president's own design.”

Johnson went with a delegation of more than 60 congressional Republicans to Eagle Pass, Texas, to meet with the Border Patrol and learn more about the problems that have been unleashed by the Biden Administration's policies.

During his visit, Johnson held a press conference in which he expressed his dismay at the situation at the border. “It's been an eye opener,” he said. “One thing is absolutely clear: America is at a breaking point with record levels of illegal immigration and today we got a firsthand look at the damage and the chaos the border catastrophe is causing in all of our communities. The situation here and across the country is truly unconscionable,” he said.

Johnson stressed the importance of making substantial changes to ensure effective border protection. “This is not about sending more money down here, it’s about changing the policy, and the White House seems not to understand that," he said.

The House speaker directly accused President Joe Biden and his administration of having implemented policies that have not only allowed the indiscriminate entry of illegal immigrants, but also smugglers and drug trafficking cartels. Johnson maintained that Biden is responsible for the national security crisis facing the country.

He is responsible for the grave threat to our national security and our nation’s sovereignty that these policies have created. But instead of taking responsibility and providing leadership, this administration has done nothing but attack elected officials who are trying to fix this catastrophe,” he said, recalling that last month the highest number of illegal crossings in history was recorded.
