Mexico: First non-binary magistrate and another person found dead in their apartment

Authorities continue to investigate the case.

Authorities found the lifeless body of Jesús Ociel Baena Saucedo, magistrate of the Electoral Court of Aguascalientes, in his apartment. He is the first magistrate recognized as "non-binary." The body of another person was also found at the scene, with Mexican outlet El Universal reporting that it was his partner.

"The president of the Electoral Court, Salvador Hernández, reported that Baena Saucedo and another person were allegedly among the victims, but we do not know what happened," reported El Universal.

The president of the Electoral Tribunal explained that at 9 a.m. he received a call informing him that something was happening at Ociel's house. He proceeded to call his partner on the phone and no one answered.

It was also learned that authorities have opened an investigation into the case. "For his part, Secretary of State Public Security Manuel Alonso García confirmed the discovery of two lifeless people in the magistrate's apartment," said El Universal. A hypothesis of what happened has not been reported.
