Israel plans to send 10,000 troops to capture Gaza City and kill Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar

“That man is in our sights,” an Israeli spokesman said. “He’s a dead man walking, and we will get to that man.”

Israel wants to send 10,000 soldiers to take Gaza City and kill senior leaders of the Hamas terrorist group, according to a report in The New York Times, which cited Israeli military officials.

According to the Times report, the Israel Defense Forces will seek to take parts of the city, at least temporarily. At the same time, anonymous Hamas sources stated that its fighters will try to surprise Israeli soldiers with traps.

The massive incursion into the enclave would be the largest since 2006, during the Second Lebanon War.

According to an Israeli spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Richard Hecht, the main objective of the operation is to kill Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

“That man is in our sights,” Hecht said. “He’s a dead man walking, and we will get to that man.”
