Harry and Meghan involved in "near-catastrophic" car chase

According to a spokesperson for the couple, several paparazzi chased them after they attended an awards show in New York.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were involved in a dangerous incident outside a gala in New York honoring Meghan Markle. According to a spokesman for Prince Harry, several paparazzi chased them for hours on Tuesday night and caused the car carrying the son of the king of the United Kingdom, the actress and her mother to collide with several vehicles.

"Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland were involved in a near catastrophic car chase at the hands of a ring of highly aggressive paparazzi. This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD [New York Police Department] officers," the spokesman said in a statement picked up by Reuters.

The spokesman stated that this chase could have been deadly. The incident was reminiscent of a similar chase that caused the death of Harry's mother, Diana of Wales, in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997.
