Hailstorm hits music festival with Louis Tomlinson, leaving dozens injured

About 90 people suffered injuries such as contusions, cuts and fractures.

A music festival at the famous Red Rocks Park amphitheater outside Denver ended with nearly a hundred people injured by an unexpected storm that unloaded hail the size of golf balls.

According to reports, the musical event had already been delayed due to the weather and attendees were even advised to take shelter in their vehicles. However, fans decided to stay in the hope that they would be able to see the main show performed by singer Louis Tomlinson, a former member of the band One Direction.

The thunder and lightning arrived shortly after that, and the storm intensified. The event organizers opted to cancel the rest of the concert, but it was too late for the attendees.

Although the storm lasted only a few minutes, the time hail fell was long enough for about 90 people to suffer injuries. According to firefighter spokeswoman Ronda Scholting, many suffered contusions, cuts and even fractures, but fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening.

One of the attendees described the moment as “apocalyptic.” “I came out of the bathroom stall to a bathroom filled with as many people who could cram in there, all seeking shelter from the hail. The hailstorm was just crazy. It was apocalyptic. It was fast,” said Beth Nabi, a 44-year-old woman who had flown in from Ireland to see one of her favorite singers.

After the cancellation, the famous former member of One Direction took to social media to express his regrets. However, he said he would return to perform for his fans. “Devastated about the show tonight, hope everyone’s ok, I’ll be back! Even though we didn’t play the show I felt all of your passion! Sending you all love!” Tomlinson tweeted.
