During this procedure, doctors removed several moles. One of them, a spokesperson for the duchess told The Telegraph, turned out to be a malignant melanoma:

After the diagnosis, which was communicated to the Duchess of York a few days after Christmas, Prince Andrew's ex-wife and member of British royalty, decided to move to Austria. There she entered the Mayrlife clinic and medical spa, where they are treating her and looking for more signs of this type of cancer, according to her spokesperson in statements to the British newspaper:
The news comes a few days after British royalty reported that the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, had undergone an abdominal procedure that required her to remain hospitalized between 10 and 14 days. That same day, it was also announced that King Charles would have to undergo surgery for an enlarged prostate.
