England: BLM member admits committing fraud at fundraiser

A Black Lives Matter (BLM) protest organizer in Bristol, U.K., has admitted to fraud after 30,000 pounds (about $36,600) donated by the public went missing. The woman identified as Xahra Saleem was one of the organizers of the protests in Bristol following the death of George Floyd. Specifically, she participated in the demonstration which resulted in the statue of Edward Colston being torn down.

"In the days leading up to the protest, Saleem organised a fundraising page for personal protective equipment to legally facilitate the march held during the Covid-19 pandemic," the BBC explained.

Although Saleem allegedly struck a deal for any excess funds to go to the Bristol-based charity Changing Your Mindset Ltd., the money was never released:

In January, Bristol Magistrates Court was told that the fundraising page had raised tens of thousands of pounds, but the charity never received any of the funds raised.

In addition, the woman is accused of having done the same with another fundraiser for BLM. "Saleem was also charged in connection with a second fundraising page following the protest to raise money for the legal costs of those facing charges," the British media reported.
