The cryptocurrency platform Binance announced this Saturday that it had restored the 90% of the assets stolen in the $6.3 billion hack. In a post on its X account, the company stated that Bitcoin, Ethereum, USDT, BNB, Solana, USDC, XRP and seven other tokens are "100% backed."

Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency platform, suffered a cyberattack that resulted in $6.36 billion being stolen from virtual wallets.

Regarding the origin of the cyberattack, private companies that track cryptocurrency transactions attribute the attack to North Korea. TRM Labs, a U.S. blockchain analytics firm, concluded with "high confidence" that it was the work of TraderTraitor, a North Korean hacking unit. However, there has not yet been an official attribution.

Donald Trump said on Saturday that the White House is looking into the matter. When asked about the theories regarding North Korean hackers, the president replied as follows: "We're learning about it. We don't know if it's North Korea — but if it is, we'll talk to North Korea about it." That same day, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), pointed directly at North Korea.

In this context, Binance posted a statement on social media providing an update on progress in recovering the funds. Specifically, the company stated that recoveries had reached 90%. "All BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD and ZEC are fully backed 100%. We will continue to buy the remaining relevant token assets through market and OTC channels until the covered amount reaches 100% for all tokens," Binance continued.

As for the losses, Binance emphasized that they will be covered by part of its SAFU emergency fund, a futures insurance fund, and its own treasury, without affecting users.

"Our commitment remains the same: Binance will fully cover the financial impact of the funds stolen in this incident. We will continue to demonstrate this commitment through measurable progress, transparent reporting, and concrete actions," the company added.
