Another masterful performance by Japanese star Shohei Ohtani was key in Saturday's 11-5 victory for the Los Angeles Dodgers over the San Francisco Giants, bringing the Dodgers to 42 wins on the season.
Ohtani, a three-time winner of the Most Valuable Player award, brought in three runs and with his two home runs to reach 41 RBIs.
Both home runs went to right field, and the second was the 250th of his career in the world's top baseball league.
Clayton Kershaw had a vintage performance on the mound, pitching seven innings in which he allowed three hits, no runs and five strikeouts.
The Atlanta Braves won 4-1 over the Colorado Rockies at Truist Park in Atlanta. Venezuelan Ronald Acuña Jr. had three RBIs and hit his seventh home run of 2025.
With a four-run lead after the first five innings, the Braves marched on to victory.
Acuña Jr., 27, the 2023 National League Most Valuable Player, drove in two runs with a homer to left field to bring his total to 13 for the 2025 season.
Atlanta adds its third consecutive victory and improves its record to 31 wins and 38 losses.
On the other hand, the Houston Astros won 3-2 over the Minnesota Twins with a run driven in by Cam Smith in the ninth inning.
Dominican Yainer Diaz connected for his ninth home run of the season, reaching 30 RBIs.
Diaz, 26, is batting for a .393 average in the last seven games with 11 hits in 28 at-bats.
In another result, Dominican Felix Bautista secured his 14th save of the season in the Baltimore Orioles' 6-5 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
Bautista is ninth on the MLB saves list, with seven fewer than the San Diego Padres' Robert Suárez, who leads the majors.
The Cincinnati Reds defeated the Detroit Tigers 11-1. Dominican Elly De La Cruz hit his 15th home run of the season with a blast to right field in the fourth inning.
Cincinnati scored six runs in the fifth inning.
Despite the loss, the Tigers remain with the best record in the American League with 46 wins and 26 losses.
The St. Louis Cardinals won 8-5 over the Milwaukee Brewers on a 10-hit day.
Venezuelan Wilson Contreras hit his ninth home run of the season and the 161st of his major league career.
