MLB: Shohei Ohtani out for the remainder of season
The Los Angeles Angels placed him on their injured list due to a right oblique muscle injury. He will be a free agent at the end of this season.
Los Angeles Angels player Shohei Ohtani, considered by many to be the best baseball player today, will be out for the remainder of the season due to a right oblique muscle injury. The franchise placed him on the injured list.
The newest injury comes after he fractured a ligament in his right elbow on August 23, which prevented him from pitching. He will undergo surgery, as confirmed in a statement by the Angels' General Manager Perry Minasian:
His agent, Nez Balelo, said Ohtani could be ready to play again on Opening Day 2024. Angels manager Phil Nevin is also confident that Ohtani will return better than ever:
Ohtani will be a free agent at the end of the season and there is speculation that he will sign the biggest contract in MLB history.
