Houston Rockets player Kevin Porter Jr. arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend
According to police, the basketball player struck and choked 26-year-old Kysre Gondrezick.
Houston Rockets player Kevin Porter Jr. was arrested in New York for allegedly assaulting a former WNBA player, 26-year-old Kysre Gondrezick, inside a Manhattan hotel. According to the New York Post, Gondrezick was his girlfriend.
Gondrezick was taken to a local hospital to be checked over by doctors. An NBA spokesperson told the news outlet that they are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering more information.
An NYPD spokesperson spoke to CNN and said Porter "assaulted her, struck her multiple times and choked her." "Neither Porter’s representative nor the Rockets have responded to requests for comment," the news outlet said.
Porter has played four seasons in the NBA: one with the Cavaliers and the last three with the Rockets. According to CNN, he averaged 19.2 points per game last season. In addition, he recently extended his contract. The Rockets announced in October that the team had signed Porter to a multi-year contract extension allegedly worth more than $80 million.
