Five people were arrested in New Orleans for allegedly collaborating with the mass jailbreak of inmates who recently escaped from an Orleans district correctional facility. Among those arrested was the father of one of the escapees.

Authorities identified the new detainees as Lenika Vanburen (28), Patricia Vanburen (18), Tyshanea "Minnie" Randolph (27), Lenton Vanburen Sr. (47) and Angel McKey (40), according to a Fox News Digital report.

Mr. Vanburen is the father of Lenton Vanburen Jr., who is one of the fugitives most wanted by authorities.

The operation followed a raid on a home in the Seventh District that was presumed to be Vanburen Jr.'s whereabouts, but was not located.

According to local police, these five individuals directly collaborated with him to prevent his capture.

With the arrests, authorities have already arrested 12 people in connection with the escape that occurred last week, which involved a total of 10 inmates.

So far, five inmates have already been recaptured: Kendell Myles, Robert Moody, Dkenan Dennis, Gary Price and Corey Boyd, the latter arrested on Tuesday. The mass escape had left shocking images captured by CCTV of how the prisoners walked freely through the streets of the city.

Other people have also been captured for assisting the escapees, according to Fox News. They include Casey Smith, Cortnie Harris and 59-year-old Connie Weeden, who faces charges that she sent money to one of the escapees, Jermaine Donald, via an app.

To date, five inmates remain at large, being considered dangerous by authorities. The most notable is Lenton Vanburen Jr. (27), who has been charged with illegal possession of weapons, obstruction of justice and introduction of contraband into prison.

The other fugitive men are:

-Jermaine Donald (42): second-degree murder, possession of weapons while convicted and aggravated assault.

- Antoine Massey (32): domestic violence with strangulation, vehicle burglary and probation violation.

- Derrick Groves (27): two second-degree murders, three attempted murders and assault on a guard.

- Leo O. Tate Sr. (31): burglary of an inhabited dwelling, illegal possession of weapons and multiple drug offenses.

It is one of the most shocking escapes from New Orleans in recent years.
