Authorities reported that the FBI seized the largest cache of explosives in its history. Federal prosecutors explained that the event occurred during a raid on a farm in Virginia when they arrested a man on a firearms charge.
The subject was identified as Brad Kenneth Spafford and the farm is located in Isle of Wight County.
A court filing submitted by federal prosecutors detailed that this is "the largest seizure by number of terminated explosive devices in FBI history." Meanwhile, the defense attorneys claimed that there is no evidence that Spafford planned to commit acts of violence.
Similarly, prosecutors explained that other pipe bombs were found completely unprotected in a bag in the bedroom of the home. The outside of the backpack was labeled "#nolivesmatter."
The explosive materials and most of the apparent destructive devices were detonated on-site, as authorities deemed them too unstable to transport and secure safely.
Axios reported that the subject was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm in violation of the National Firearms Act after being arrested on December 17.
