Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed that multiple political parties approached him with the possibility of running for president in 2024 after a 2021 political poll indicated that 46% of Americans would consider voting for him.

Johnson shared that, in late 2022, political parties visited him to explore the possibility of a candidacy. “It came out of the blue, and it was one after the other. They brought up that poll, and they also brought up their own deep-dive research that would prove that should I ever go down that road [I’d be a real contender],” he told the podcast “What Now?” by Trevor Noah.

However, the actor and professional wrestler ruled out the possibility of running for president and clarified that politics was never his main objective.

“It was all very surreal because that’s never been my goal. My goal has never been to be in politics. As a matter of fact, there’s a lot about politics that I hate,” he said.

The Rock’s interest in politics

Although Johnson clarified that he completely ruled out the idea of entering politics on this occasion, the actor has mentioned his interest in a political career several times.

In 2016, The Rock stated in an interview with GQ that the idea of being president was attractive to him, and a year later, he told Variety that he was seriously considering running for president in 2024.

In 2021, when the survey was published, the famous actor also commented that he “would consider a presidential run in the future if that was what people wanted.” In fact, according to Johnson, political parties contacted him as a result of these comments.

His daughters influenced the decision

In another interview in 2022, Johnson explained that raising his three daughters is his top priority and that his attention is focused on his role as a father. “I love our country and everyone in it [but] I also love being a daddy,” he expressed, highlighting that for him, being present and supporting his daughters during this period of their lives is extremely important to him.
