Meryl Streep has been separated from her husband for six years
The information was confirmed to the press by her representative, who explained that Streep and her partner "will always care for each other."
Meryl Streep's representative revealed that the actress and her husband, Don Gummer, have been quietly separated for six years. According to a statement sent to the media, the couple continues to care for each other, but with separate lives.
The information becomes known days after the actress was under the spotlight for receiving the 2023 Princess of Asturias Award in Spain on Friday.
"Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart," Streep's rep said in a statement to People, which confirmed the information after a statement was released through the media.
On Sept. 30, Streep and Gummer celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Furthermore, one of the most memorable moments featuring the couple was when Streep dedicated an emotional speech to her husband when she won the Oscar for best actress for her performance in “The Iron Lady” in 2012.
"First, I'm going to thank Don because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech, they play them out with the music and I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives, you've given me," Streep said as her voice began to break.
