Chicago: three dead, including 1-year-old girl, in freeway shooting
The incident left three others injured, two of them minors. So far no suspects have been arrested and a $7,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
A shooting on Interstate 57 in Chicago left three people dead, including a one-year-old girl and a minor, and three others wounded.
Shortly after 10:30 p.m. Sunday, six people traveling in a vehicle on the highway were shot at least 32 times. William Smith, 13, and Nasir Hall (19) died at the scene. The other four were taken to area hospitals. Shortly thereafter, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified 1-year-old A-mara Hall as the third victim.
Two boys, ages 13 and 14, were transported to Comer Children's Hospital in serious condition. Another woman who was also in the vehicle was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, also in serious condition.
$7,000 reward
The highway remained closed for nearly six hours after the shooting and reopened around 4:30 a.m. on Monday.
Police reported that the motive for the incident is still under investigation and no suspects have been arrested so far. Community activists are offering a $7,000 reward to anyone who provides valid information leading to an arrest.
