Shooting in Toronto leaves at least five dead
It is not yet known if the victims were related. The perpetrator of the multiple murder was shot dead by security forces.
Police in Canada confirmed Sunday the death of five people during a shooting at an apartment building in the city of Vaughan, 40 kilometers outside Toronto. The perpetrator of the multiple murder was shot dead by security forces. Police authorities do not yet know if the perpetrator had any relationship with the victims or the motive for the multiple murder.
York Regional Police spokeswoman Laura Nicolle reported during a call to CNN that police were inspecting the building to determine the exact number of fatalities when they encountered the suspect, who was shot and killed in an "interaction" with police. The officer did not provide further details about the suspect's death.
Four gunshot wounds and scenes of panic
Sunday's shooting in Toronto is not the first to occur this week in the Canadian city. On Monday, approximately two million people attended the celebration of the Rapstors basketball team as NBA champions, where another shooting occurred that left four people with gunshot wounds.
The celebration could have resulted in an even worse tragedy because of the two stampedes caused by the shooting.
