Chronicle of the murders

The suspect initially stabbed two people, before going south on the Las Vegas Strip and stabbing five more people. The eighth person was attacked at a third location nearby, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Deputy Chief James LaRochelle told reporters.

"At this time, the suspect's motive is unknown. He will be committed to the Clark County Detention Center. This is an ongoing investigation," the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement.
